Don’t worry, you still have some options to try.
File History is a built-in Windows backup tool, but it only works if you had it turned on before deleting the files. To check and restore from File History:
- Go to Settings > Update & Security > Backup.
- If File History is enabled, click More options then Restore files from a current backup.
- Browse through your files and folders to find the version before deletion.
- Select your Word documents and click Restore.
If File History wasn’t set up or doesn’t have your files, you can try Windows File Recovery (WFR) — a free Microsoft command-line tool that can recover deleted files if they haven’t been overwritten.
