How to insert shape (block arrow) inbetween words

Hello,

I am trying to do a quick little flow chart for myself to help me with the directionality of a custom water cooling loop I am including in a computer I am building.  I am trying to insert block arrows inbetween words to illustrate the directionality of the loop but I am not able to figure out how to put the arrows between the words.  When I try it puts it on top of the words, it doesn't move the words over and when I have the block arrow the exact size/color etc... I want to use I am not able to copy/paste the arrow to use it repeatedly.  When I try to change the layout options it still doesn't work to put the arrow in between the words.

I am looking to insert an arrow inbetween the words much like you would insert an "emoticon" inbetween the words in a text message where it moves the words over after it.  I cannot figure out how to do this in Word.

I contacted support and spoke with a woman that really was NOT knowledgeable about Word from a functional standpoint and even though we did a remote connection session she and I still could not figure out how to make it work without inserting tons of spaces inbetween the words and then positioning the arrows which is a totally haphazard way to do this.  The only thing she could do to help me was direct me to this forum.

Can anyone help me figure out how to do this?

Thank you.

Sincerely,

Wonder_Woman
