Footnote problem
Which version of Word are you using? Which operating system?
In the web browser version of Word, you will definitely need to switch to the reading view or look at the print preview for Word to display footnotes, endnotes, headers, footers, etc. correctly.
Thanks for the follow-up with the version info & operating system.
In a full version of Word, footnotes and endnotes should be visible in the Print Layout view.
See if copying the document content, excluding the final paragraph mark (¶) of the document, into a new, blank document will overcome the issue.

I checked the print view and copied the text into the new document. Unfortunately it didn't work. The footnotes of that one section are still gone.
I am sending a file with a copy of my master's thesis, if you could look at it, I would really appreciate it.
