Default settings for creation of a Word document after recent update

I have a MacBook Air and have Word and Excel on it.  I recently updated Word and the screen that comes up to create a new document is entirely different.  The text is very small and the document on the screen is also small.  You can use the arrows and expand the screen.  You can change the text size only when. you highlight it an choose a different size.  I am 76 years old and this new update has me baffled.  These should be a way to change these default setting, but I have not been able to find it.  Could be a Mac problem.  I looked for answers on the net and have not been successful.  Any help would be appreciated.

  • JohnBoy647 Unfortunately, I don't use a Mac so cannot be sure if you see the same as on a Windows computer, where, you can adjust the size of the document via the Zoom slider at the bottom right of the Word window and also via the Zoom facility on the View tab of the ribbon.
