Creating checklist/drop down with the rest of the document remaining editable

I'm looking to create a digital copydeck template for my team to use. This means the template should remain editable, however I would like some portions to be like a form. Below are examples of some of the things I've been trying.

I have a drop down field, checklist field, and some bulleted "check" boxes (i think these are only good when printed). I can't get the form fields to work without locking my whole document. Is there a way to only lock the forms portion, or any other workarounds/ideas?

  • monika150 Using Legacy FormFields which do require the document to be protected for Filling in Forms, if you insert a Section Break, or Section Breaks if necessary so that the FormFields are located in a Section, you can exclude the other Sections from the protection.  While you can then insert text into the not-protected Sections of the document, there are still some limitations on what you can do in those Sections.

A better option is to use Content Controls for the form part of the document and then select everything in that part of the document and use the Group facility in the Controls Section of the Developer tab of the ribbon.
