Accents & Characters using "Alt+Code" appear twice on Word

I found the problem for the Word related ALT-code issue which makes a double entry after a next keystroke. It lies within the Windows setting option: "Show text suggestions when typing on the physical keyboard".
In Windows settings go to: Time & Language --> Typing and disable the option.
Good catch. This definitely seems to be the issue (although over a year late for the original poster).
