Accents & Characters using "Alt+Code" appear twice on Word

FelixHinze680 What Version and Build of Office are you using?

 

I cannot replicate the issue here with a 64-bit installation of Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise, Version 2403 (Build 17425.20176 Click-to-Run) Current Channel running under Windows 10 and also another 64-bit instance the same Version and Build running under Windows 11.

Hey, I've been having this exact same issue for a while.

It doesn't happen in Office apps in my case, but everywhere. I just do the testing on Notepad.

 

Also, I can confirm in most cases (repeatable) it does insert 2 characters at once directly. For instance ALT+161, it always inputs 2 at once. ALT+141 as well. 

But I have also seen the mentioned behaviour of inputting just one, and then the next keystroke inputting the 2nd character identical. 

 

Really clueless as to why this happens. 


I use Win 11 24H2 atm.
