Future of M365 apps on Windows Server 2025?
With the official branding for Server 2025 and the preview release announced it's now time for my team to start looking at where we go for our next end user remote access platform, do we go Windows 11 multi-user on Azure/AzureStack HCI or do we go Windows Server 2025. The deciding factor other than economics will be if M365 apps will be supported. So with less than 9 months to go till launch can someone please tell us if we should be using our time to test and tweak a Server 2025 image in preparation for launch or do we have to spend all of our time working on an AVD implementation?
AFidel no worries. M365 are supported during mainstream support. This means 5 years after release.
Having Software Assurance on Windows Server or Windows Server CSP Subscription is certainly a useful and license economic choice. This also opens the door for the cheapest way to adopt Azure Stack HCI, as the active CPU core per month costs are reduced to 0, aswell as you would be gaining Azure Hybrid rights.
The official announcement was made at Ignitecheck out: https://ignite.microsoft.com/en-US/sessions/f3901190-1154-45e3-9726-d2498c26c2c9?source=sessions (42:00 min)
Independent Azure Stack HCI is still a great plattform, even if you do not need to use AVD, because of many unique functional features, easy management of single and multiple clusters and licensing benefits compared to Windows Server 2022 / 2025 and other competitor products.
