No SET-Switch Team possible on Intel X710 NICs?

Hello,

we have lot of servers from different vendors using Intel X710 DA2 network cards.
They work fine in standalone and they work fine if we create switch independet teams using Server Manager, Regardless of Dynmic or Hyper-V Port.
But sadly we can't use these teams in Server 2025 because have to create SET-Switch Teams instead.

But as soon as we create an Hyper-V SET-Switch Team with X710 cards, they have limited to no network communication.
They still can communicate with some servers, are slow with some ohters, and can't communicate with some at all.
Especially communication to other servers, which also use X710 cards with SET-Switches, is zero.

SET-Teams with other cards like E810 work just fine.

I've read several times that the X710 cards just wont work with SET, even since Server 2016.
But I can't really give up on this, since we would have to replace a lot of them.
We have tried to disable a lot of features like VMQ, RSS, RCS... but couln't make it work.
Firmware and Drivers are the most recent, but it happens with older versions too.

Does anyone have a solution?
Thank you!

I'm having the same issues running Server 2025 on an MS-A2 platform.  The drivers are the latest and greatest, and firmware has been updated, but once you create a SET team, things get weird.  Networking either does not work when assigning the switch to a VM, or sometimes briefly works, then dies.  I've tried multiple avenues by disabling settings and tweaking the BIOS to no avail.  I wish someone from MS would chime in here and figure out what's going on.  I've seen a few other posts on the net talking about this as well, but no real answers.

Hi, we had to replace the network adapters with Broadcom adapters. We also raised a Microsoft Support Request but no solution by Microsoft.
Microsoft asked us to raise a vendor ticket at Intel/HPE. Because of the time that had past we didn't raise an additional request.

I tried the latest drivers from Intel and even used some from Dell without success. However, I discovered that if you uninstall the device from Device Manager along with its drivers and then refresh, Server 2025 will install the default drivers from Intel 6/27/2023 v1.18.367.0, and those worked with SET immediately, resolving all my issues.

    Hey ABW
Did you find any resolution for this issue? We see similar behavior with X710.
Two HPE DL360 gen10 with Windows Server 2025. Both use two X710 10Gbe NICs in SET-Teaming and will be used in Hyper-V Cluster. Both host can't communicate with each other in same subnet, but can communication with other host in same subnet and also in other subnets. Also LBFO-Teaming is also not working correctly.
