Windows 11 insider preview 22593.1 (ni_release) failing
2 previous updates were also failing with the same error. I was hoping 22593.1 will install but I got the same 0xc1900101 error:
Did anyone find a solution to this besides a clean install?
Thank you,
Paul

Hello paulgeanta i was also having this error before
you just have to delete the windows update files by: C:/Windows/SoftwareDistribution, just delete the DOWNLOAD folder after that run windows update troubleshooter, then run sfc scan via administrative permission in cmd command
sfc /scannow
then just try it again
if it fails try the update in clean boot via
win + r, type msconfig
then services hide all microsoft services then disable all
then restart your pc and try it again
Thanks!

Now sorted thanks. Found a post on another site which suggested running the System/ Troubleshooter/ Other Trouble Shooters/ Windows Update which found a couple of things requiring attention and I was then able to install the update. Its a large download and the update isn't quick either.
- ssorgsCopper ContributorDetected and fixed an error on mine, but install still failed after "Working on updates 60%"

I did the scan thing and deleting the distribution folder but it still hangs at 14 percent then fails.
I nearly killed my PC trying to update.Leaving it for now until a new fix is made by MS.
- Alok_SahCopper ContributorDid you try the clean boot step

same exact problem here.

The update installs then at 14 percent it hangs then the update fail message comes up Lowestprime
I have tried every fix to get it to work including clearing out alot of space on the HD.
Tried 20 times,same error.
Now it's taking over my life this update lol trying to get it to install.

I have the same x1900101 for a month lately. When I check the Windows Update etl logs, it says 15003 as an ErrorCode.
So far I've got to a point, where the Start menu was not working after a failed update, so I did a clean install from w10 iso -> w11 (wu) because even the 22593 DEV ISO failed to install 😄
So now I'm on 10.0.22000.593 and stuck AGAIN, it is so frustrating.
The GSOD error always something else, and usually comes up after 87% of progress.

Installation is complete.
All previous versions un-installed at 60% and went back.
It seems to have solved the problem.- lewmorkCopper ContributorWindows 11 Insider Preview 22598.1 (ni_release) not installing (same error, 0xc1900101), GSOD with message: "INVALID_DATA_ACCESS_TRAP".
None of the solutions mentioned here is working for me (MSMQ is already disabled)- aqwarisCopper Contributor
lewmork Too many failed updates. This update to Windows 11 has caused me so much anxiety and inconvenience that I am thinking of doing a new installation to get Windows 10 back. I wish Microsoft to release a more convenient update that does not cause such inconvenience! I wish all of you who are going through these difficulties patience and success!
- MikeGR76Copper ContributorI was having a failure downloading the update with that code. It turned out the setupconfig.ini in the default profile existed from a previous Windows 10 feature update and it had incompatible settings in it. The file would likely be at %systemdrive%\Users\Default\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\WSUS\SetupConfig.ini and removing it might help if you are getting the failure during download.
- paulgeantaBrass ContributorThank you MikeGR76. I will give that a try but my download goes well, Install goes to 100%. Once I reboot, it applies the changes, a few reboots and at 60% it reboots again. On the last reboot it rolls back the update...

paulgeanta SAME! I mean the EXACT same thing for me! It sticks at 60% for a bit (sometimes also at 48% then 60%, but not for quite as long as it sticks at 60%, and it sticks there EVERY TIME) then goes all the way to 100%, reboots, then rolls back the update. Tried a million times!

There is no WSUS folder in my location.
i have noticed my non system hard drive (F) flashes when trying to install this update.
Why?
- MikeGR76Copper ContributorDarren,
That folder would only be there if you have corporate IT that pushes custom feature updates. Our desktop team(which I was a part of until recently) does that and before I set it to insider I had received a standard feature update. Those corporate settings apparently don't work with Windows 11's latest feature updates. If you don't have the folder you won't see the issue I ran into.

- qaab101Copper ContributorHello I had the same problem also and this is what I tried. There was an experience pack to download, after I installed it, 22593.1 has installed. If it has not worked, I don't know.
- soumyaseshCopper ContributorI have faced the same failure issue and now I am facing another problem with windows defender threat service restarting
- eduvz23Copper ContributorI have the same inconvenience as everyone else, however it reaches 61% and stops, it's just the installation, because other drivers are installed normally. any solution?
