Why is the Extend Volume option grayed out and unavailable in Windows 10 Disk Management?
In Disk Management, I want to merge a 20GB unallocated space into the adjacent E drive, but the “Extend Volume” option is grayed out and unavailable, preventing direct operation. I need to understand the limitations of this feature and effective methods to achieve the merge.

The unallocated space must be directly next to the drive or partition you want to extend. If there is any other partition between them, you cannot extend the volume directly.

If the unallocated space is not directly after E, you cannot extend E directly.

The unallocated space must be directly next to the partition you want to extend. If there's any other partition (like a different drive letter or system partition) between the unallocated space and E drive, the option will be grayed out.
