What are the possible reasons for the decrease in copying speed?
I am transferring MR backup images from an NVMe drive to an external SSD connected via USB. I am curious about the sudden decrease in copying speed that occurs at a certain stage of the multiple image copying process. Understanding the root cause of this issue may enable me to address it. I have observed this speed drop during recent backups from internal to external storage.

- ParkerSimmonsIron ContributorOver time, files can become fragmented on a hard drive, causing the read/write head to move more, which slows down the copying process.
- SherlockDaveCopper ContributorI do not have sufficient info is the drive for example over heating because if you pushing it and it gets hot enough it will throttle do save it self after all if your not pushing it long enough most of the time you wouldn't notice it till your doing something that pushes it hard for a long enough sustained period to force throttling from heat because nvme is fast and the faster the drive it the more heat generated from it when it's being pushed for speed
