The system update removed my account's disk permissions.
The player is installed in the Program Files folder on Drive D. Today, I suddenly discovered that I couldn't drag files from the folder to the player list anymore! Everything was fine last month, and I automatically updated it at the beginning of this month. I copied the player installation folder to another disk, and everything worked fine again! However, when I renamed the installation folder in the original path, the player couldn't run properly!

Yeah, that tracks. The update probably messed up the permissions on that specific folder. Moving it gave it a fresh start with new permissions. Renaming it broke everything 'cause the shortcuts and registry still pointed to the old path. Just use the copy on the other disk.

The system update likely removed or changed permissions on the original folder, specifically in the context of your user account. This is why moving the folder worked, as the new location now has the correct permissions. Renaming the folder in the original location, however, broke the association because the system now expects the old file path.
