Subtitles not available when casting device to Windows

I've looked elsewhere online & didn't find any joy so I expect this isn't possible without additional program. I'm casting an .mkv file to TV, using the native "Cast to Device" feature under the right click option. Is there a way to access the subtitles baked into the .mkv file? Playing file on desktop shows subtitles so I know they're there. There seem to be several third party programs that may do it, and cast directly from the program, but nothing from the native "Cast to Device" feature?

The "Cast to Device" feature utilizes Windows Media Player's capabilities, which may not support all formats, codecs, or features like embedded subtitles in MKV files. Instead, it may only work well with formats and codecs explicitly supported by the device you're casting to.
