Really strange audio bug
I am dealing with a really strange audio issue that I believe is OS or driver related. I am running W11 Pro.
Listening to music or watching videos the sound occasionally just cuts out. The mouse seems to get a bit choppy as if the PC is going to crash. However, here is the really odd part. Clicking on spatial sound and changing "Windows Sonic for Headphones" either on or off depending on its current setting immediately resolves the issue. So if spatial sound is off, changing it to on fixes the issue, if its on turning it off does the same...
I have checked this with onboard audio (Realtek) and using my standard audio setup which is a Scarlett 2i2. This only seems to happen when watching videos or listening to music in the edge browser or Spotify app and not during gaming. How would you go about troubleshooting this issue? Or better yet, has anyone heard of this specific issue before?

1. Check the physical connection: unplug the headphone/audio cable, try to replace the USB port (if it is a USB device)
Test different audio devices (e.g. cell phone headphones)
2. System volume settings: Right click on the taskbar speaker icon → “Open Volume Synthesizer”
Make sure all applications are not muted
Check if “Spatial Sound” is turned on by mistake (right click on speaker → Spatial Sound → off)
3. General fix program
Option A: Automatic Repair
Press Win+X → select “Terminal (Administrator)”
Paste the following command and enter:
powershell
msdt.exe -id AudioPlaybackDiagnostic
Follow the wizard to complete the auto-detect repair
Option B: Driver Reset
Right-click Start Menu → “Device Manager”
Expand “Audio Input and Output”
Right-click all audio devices → select “Uninstall Device” (check “Try to remove driver”)
Restart the computer (the system will automatically reinstall the driver)
4 high-frequency problems special solutions: Problem 1: sound lag / burst sound

Right click on the default device → “Properties” → Advanced
Change “Default Format” to “16-bit 44100Hz”
Problem 2: No sound from microphone: Press Win+I → “System” → “Sound”
Under Input Devices click “Test Microphone”
Check if “Microphone Privacy Permissions” is enabled (Settings → Privacy → Microphone)
5. Ultimate solution
Create a new local user account to test (Settings → Accounts → Other Users)
Use a system restore point (search for “create restore point” → system restore)
Laptop users can try Fn+volume keys to unmute the sound.
Gamers are advised to disable all “Audio Enhancement” features.
For problems after recent updates try uninstalling the latest patch (Settings → Windows Update → Update History)
