Really strange audio bug
1. Check the physical connection: unplug the headphone/audio cable, try to replace the USB port (if it is a USB device)
Test different audio devices (e.g. cell phone headphones)
2. System volume settings: Right click on the taskbar speaker icon → “Open Volume Synthesizer”
Make sure all applications are not muted
Check if “Spatial Sound” is turned on by mistake (right click on speaker → Spatial Sound → off)
3. General fix program
Option A: Automatic Repair
Press Win+X → select “Terminal (Administrator)”
Paste the following command and enter:

msdt.exe -id AudioPlaybackDiagnostic
Follow the wizard to complete the auto-detect repair
Option B: Driver Reset
Right-click Start Menu → “Device Manager”
Expand “Audio Input and Output”
Right-click all audio devices → select “Uninstall Device” (check “Try to remove driver”)
Restart the computer (the system will automatically reinstall the driver)

Right click on the speaker icon → “Sound” → Playback tab
Right click on the default device → “Properties” → Advanced
Change “Default Format” to “16-bit 44100Hz”
Problem 2: No sound from microphone: Press Win+I → “System” → “Sound”
Under Input Devices click “Test Microphone”
Check if “Microphone Privacy Permissions” is enabled (Settings → Privacy → Microphone)
5. Ultimate solution
Create a new local user account to test (Settings → Accounts → Other Users)
Use a system restore point (search for “create restore point” → system restore)
Laptop users can try Fn+volume keys to unmute the sound.
Gamers are advised to disable all “Audio Enhancement” features.
For problems after recent updates try uninstalling the latest patch (Settings → Windows Update → Update History)
