How to transfer photos from iPhone to computer on a Windows PC?
Hi there,
I’ve accumulated a lot of photos on my iPhone 15 and need to transfer them to my computer to free up some space. I know there are a few ways to do this, but I’m looking for the most straightforward and reliable method. I’ve tried using iCloud before, but it’s a bit slow, and I’m hoping to find a faster solution, especially since I have a large number of photos.
Currently, I have a Windows 11 laptop and Windows 10 PC. Please suggest an easy way to bulk transfer photos from iPhone to computer. Any step-by-step instructions or suggestions would be much appreciated!

App images and screenshots are not available for transfer when connecting iPhone to computer via USB drive. To transfer all images on your iPhone, you need a dedicated app to pull off the images saved on different locations. The dedicated app will scan the device and list all images on the screen. After that, you can transfer all images from iPhone to computer.
This is a very simple tutorial for doing that:

P.S. I have done this a couple of times on my Windows 11 PC and it works flawlessly!

If you don't mind using iCloud , you can try iCloud for Windows to copy photos from iPhone to computer Windows 11. After installing this tool, as long as you turn on photo sync in the settings, the photos on iCloud will be automatically downloaded to your computer. Although the whole process does not require you to operate manually, if you have a lot of photos, the speed may be a bit slow, especially for large files.
But the advantage is that you don't need to plug in the cable, nor do you have to import again and again, the photos will be automatically updated on the computer, which is more convenient. It is suitable for people who are not in a hurry!

I used the Windows Photos app to easily transfer photos from iPhone to PC Windows 11. This method is relatively intuitive and suitable for people who don't want to manually operate folders. The specific steps are as follows:
- First, connect your iPhone to your Windows computer with a USB cable.
- Open the Windows Photos app, which is usually installed by default in the system. If not, you can download it from the Microsoft Store.
- In the upper right corner of the app, you will see an "Import" button. Click it and select your iPhone device.
- The system will load the photos on your iPhone, and then you can browse all the photos and videos and select the ones you want to import.
- Finally, click "Import Selected" and the system will copy the photos to your computer and automatically categorize them according to date or other information.
The advantage of this method is that it is more worry-free. The Photos app will automatically organize the photos for you, which is suitable for those who don't want to directly operate folders. However, if you have a lot of photos, the import process may be a little slow.

I used this method to transfer photos from iPhone to computer. It's really simple and fast. Here are the steps:
- Connect your iPhone to your computer (Windows 10 or 11) with a USB cable.
- Open File Explorer and you'll see an iPhone in the list of devices.
- Click inside and find the DCIM folder where all your photos are.
- Then you just need to select the photos you want and drag them directly to the folder on your computer.
This method is especially suitable for large-scale transfers. It's much faster than iCloud. I always transfer photos this way. It saves time and effort.
Although this method is fast, it also has some disadvantages:
- No sorting: Photos in the DCIM folder are separated by date, not by album, so you have to filter them yourself.
- No Live Photos or video information: If you have Live Photos or videos, sometimes it will only transfer static images and cannot fully replicate the effect.
- Cable dependency: You need a USB cable, and sometimes the connection is unstable and the device cannot recognize it.
Nevertheless, it is still very useful for one-time large-scale transfers!

Transferring photos from an iPhone to a PC via Bluetooth can be a wireless alternative when a USB cable is unavailable or if you prefer not to use cloud services. While Bluetooth is a slower method compared to other options, it allows for basic file transfers without requiring additional software or internet access. However, this feature is somewhat limited, as iPhones are not natively designed to transfer files via Bluetooth to non-Apple devices, meaning it’s less common for Windows PCs to support direct Bluetooth transfers from an iPhone.
How to Transfer Photos from iPhone to PC via Bluetooth:
- Open the Photos app on your iPhone.
- Select the photos you want to transfer.
- Tap the Share icon and look for the Bluetooth option. If this option is not available, Bluetooth transfers may not be supported by your iPhone and Windows PC combination.
- Once the transfer begins, your PC will prompt you to accept the incoming files.
- Select the location where you want to save the transferred photos.

Milesom Before transferring iPhone photos from iPhone to Windows PC, make sure you know the cons of this free method.
Compatibility Issues: iPhones use the Lightning cable, and some Windows PCs may not have compatible ports (e.g., USB-C). Users might need adapters, which adds extra steps to the process.
Can't transfer app photos: Only photos taken with the Photos app can be visible on a PC. The photos or screenshot images created by other apps are not available via USB transfer!
Manual Sorting: Users often need to manually navigate through photo folders, which can be time-consuming, especially with a large number of photos.
I suggest taking a try on the Microsoft Phone Link app to help you transfer iPhone photos to a Windows computer. It is a free app developed by Microsoft!
- GianmaisIron ContributorConnect your iPhone to Windows PC via USB cable. After that, the device name appears in File Explorer. Double click the iPhone name and copy all photos from DCIM folder. This is the easiest way to transfer photos from iPhone to computer on Windows. However, photos taken by other apps won't be saved in this location.
