How to let windows 11 "never combine taskbar buttons"?
How to let windows 11 "never combine taskbar buttons"?
- The November 2023 update added “never combined” mode on the taskbar for Windows 11. To find this feature, go to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Taskbar behaviors. Set Combine taskbar buttons and hide labels to Never. It also added a separate setting for turning this feature on for other taskbars when you use multiple monitors.

- JimBoSSBrass ContributorAdding my support to bring this feature back.
Not being able to see the details of a file explorer window is just crippling when copying documents between multiple locations.
Not being able to drag files to a taskbar item to bring that window up is also a massive productivity reduction.
This applies to common tasks like adding a photo to a photoshop window
Adding a file to the Youtube upload screen etc.
This is not an aesthetic thing it is a functionality thing.
Add my vote to bringing it back ASAP - benJephunnehBrass Contributor
Updating...
And in the blink of an eye, my computer's performance is slashed to that of a Nokia flip phone. Not to mention, Microsoft didn't take pains to leave the computer how I had it, such as to never combine windows. - tun_trungBrass Contributorpleáe come back "never combine taskbar buttons" :((

I add my STRONG vote for restoring taskbar "never combine option"! huali1405
- Fredy1370Brass ContributorTaskbar and start menu became too simple, not customizable, not usable. The same kind of interface problems happened with windows 8. I thought that it was old story...

Why do we have to buy third party software to do this? It's unacceptable. Microsoft you've really dropped the ball on this one.

Microsoft, I am extremely unhappy the Never Combined has been removed from taskbar options. I figure out how to uninstall Windows 11 as a result. People don't need this stress when MicroSoft forces upgrades on us. These are not changes I want.

- nonamedmanBrass ContributorI'm a software developer, choosing Windows at work. I won't upgrade to Windows 11 if this option is not available because it would reduce my productivity greatly.
Microsoft, it's OK if you want to dumb down your UI for the average/small screen users, but you're turning your geek users away. - DopplerdaveBrass ContributorI am about to uninstall Windows 11 because of this. Bring back the option to not combine taskbar windows.
- Kim-99Brass ContributorYes this is stupid. Microsoft should think about the productivity too.
- CesarMarounCopper ContributorExactky. Why wasn't this the default in Windows? I painfully watch so many developers and multi taskers waste so much time LOCATING and PICKING because they don't know it's an option. PAINFUL
- psychedelicuSteel ContributorAlso, the drag and drop feature don't work with the new taskbar! Microsoft, WTF is this joke? How can I drag my pictures in Photoshop for example, or in any other app?
- tsioukasBrass ContributorThis is a joke, I want to buy a new laptop and I don’t search anymore for the hardware specs, I think this is awful and unproductive feature that it’s missing. Microsoft UI Designers we are not all using Windows like a Tablet. I am software engineer and with a quick test it will cause me to lose approximately 30’ of my working time every day, think about it. Maybe I will pay to buy Windows 10 again 😉
