How to let windows 11 "never combine taskbar buttons"?
- The November 2023 update added “never combined” mode on the taskbar for Windows 11. To find this feature, go to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Taskbar behaviors. Set Combine taskbar buttons and hide labels to Never. It also added a separate setting for turning this feature on for other taskbars when you use multiple monitors.

Microsoft, I never post on forums but I am making an exception for this. I have used Windows products since Windows 3 and I love them. I have always gone along with all the changes you've brought throughout the years. But this time, I am really disappointed. Grouping icons is a HUGE waste of time and productivity. It is really annoying and boring to have to work with this all day long. I am wasting a lot of time for nothing and the pain does no go away with time. I really really really hope and encourage you to bring back this feature. A lot of us use Windows for work (which means we want to be productive ; we don't care about the looks of things) and ungrouping icons in the task bar is a really really really important feature for so many of us. I thank you in advance.
- shaun81Copper ContributorI guess its time to move away from Microsoft office, and move to google's product range, at least I can use google chrome tabs as they dont group, surely it cant be much slower than this inefficient way.
- MM1986Copper ContributorMoving back to Windows 10 until this feature is available.
- sergioxiiCopper ContributorAnybody get any estimation time when it will be fixed ?
- Merbin_JoeBrass ContributorI think, they will not add this feature. Because the entire windows 11 design will affect, it they're add this.

This is TERRIBLE! A really, really bad decision! I'm having do relay on thidr-part application to use this feature, otherwise I would reverse the upgrade to Windows 10. Combined buttons is VERY unintuitive, HUGE time drag because it makes me look for the correct windows and execute an extra click to open the correct one. I'm a system developer, I'm always with a lot of windows opened at the same time, it's impossible to work with combined buttons! Please, give us a native option to never combine the icons!
- Merbin_JoeBrass ContributorWindows is copying the design from macOS. Compare to the macOS, windows gives more productivity and user-friendly. But currently most of the concept is similar to macOS.
Also, did anyone notice the windows 11 is slow compare to the windows 10. So better to not switch windows 11. - LanaafonsoCopper Contributor
Please bring back the Never Combine option. This is unproductive.
- rickymichalskiBrass ContributorMS, why would you break this? I'm so tired of being pushed to use my laptop like it's a tablet. I do not have time for that! I don't look at the taskbar to know what apps are open, I look at it to know what *windows* are open - that's not only a huge productivity help, but a mental focus help as well.
It's the desktop analogy, come on: If you have a bunch of printed documents on your desk, you can glance around and see *which documents* are there, whether or not they're of the same variety - not a single icon indicating that you happen to have an unknown number of documents of one particular type on the desk.
Needless to say, I will not move on from Windows 10 if this isn't addressed, and when Windows 10 "expires" I'll find something else that will give me options. Either way, this removal of options game is offensive, just on principle, and every time you do it you lose long-term credibility.- NepciorCopper Contributor
Once again you sacrifice ergonomics and functionality for the (debatable) "better look". I guess it's time to remind you that people use Windows for work or play, not for enjoying its beauty.
- igmar75Brass ContributorI'm a professional user of Windows and Office365. Please, Microsoft, bring the "never combine taskbar buttons" checkbox BACK. Without it, productivity is reduced.
- giogo710Copper Contributorneed to have this feature back, please do it
