How to let windows 11 "never combine taskbar buttons"?
How to let windows 11 "never combine taskbar buttons"?
- The November 2023 update added “never combined” mode on the taskbar for Windows 11. To find this feature, go to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar > Taskbar behaviors. Set Combine taskbar buttons and hide labels to Never. It also added a separate setting for turning this feature on for other taskbars when you use multiple monitors.

- MSRX92Iron ContributorYes, add my vote to someone who hates having taskbar buttons combined. I need/want the functionality of being able to click once on what word document I want to bring forward, not have to click twice to bring up all the open word documents, and then have to figure out from the tiny icons which one I need. When they are grouped out on the task bar, I know which one I want because they stay listed in the same order.

Also add my name to the list of disgruntled users. To the people at Microsoft who decide in this; please open 12 Excel-sheets, edit them all for a day or so and then tell me how enjoyable you find this experience with all windows combined under one button not seeing the filenames...
- ShawketCopper Contributorplease bring this feature back!!!!!
- RLithgoCopper ContributorRolled back Win 11 upgrade as soon as I found this. Removing this feature is a show stopper.
- WilliamBrazierBrass ContributorAdding my name to the list of people who are frustrated beyond words about this. I am reverting to windows 10. I can't work without this feature which sucks as there's a lot to like about windows 11 but this missing feature just wastes so much time for me.
Who at MS decided this feature could go? I think they can go from the design team.- Pourya_ShamsiCopper ContributorI found this today “ Explorer Patcher for Windows 11” on GitHub.
As soon as you run it, the taskbar goes back to windows 10.- gorthanCopper Contributorthere you have another one who didn't read the topic and read what most people here think about EP: why do I have to use a third party, untrusted application, (and personally with a HORRIBLE LOOK) for a feature that has been removed by Microsoft without proper notification?

I don't know why Microsoft never asks power users about this changes. Yes, maybe someone who uses the computer for browsing web at home doesn't care. But this Taskbar issue has wasted so much of my design time. I have to look through the windows to see which one I'm looking for. Then do a small thing, and then search again within windows of another app!
- CadetDCopper ContributorThe first thing I do on a new Windows machine is to turn off the group of taskbar icons. That has to be the worst feature, in my opinion. That option is now gone and I am losing time, missing meetings, etc. Please bring back the option to ungroup taskbar icons.
