Windows Media Player Doesn't Add Info During Rip / Ripping Task
I'm ripping some brand new commercial CDs and all the album info is "unknown," song titles are missing- not good.
What the heck is going on??? Please help!

If you must use WMP, you are forced to manually input artist and track data before ripping. This is inefficient for bulk archiving.

Open it, go to Rip Settings > More options. Under the Rip tab, ensure Retrieve media info from the Internet is checked.

I've been successfully ripping classical CDs with Media Player onto a USB stick, complete with media information (CD title, name of piece, performers, tempo or other markings and time in mm:ss of each track. Suddenly Media Player is unable to access the media information. It can be added manually, but this can be very tedious. Is there a way I can reset MP so it adds the media information as it copies the contents of the CDs? Thank you!

Some older software relies on Freedb or CDDB.
Ensure these services are enabled and accessible.
Note that Freedb has been deprecated, so newer databases are preferred.
