Is bitlocker available on Windows 11 Home now?
- MarilyonAug 28, 2024Copper ContributorYes. The latest version of Windows 11 will encrypt the disk with BitLocker by default.
- AriimopAug 30, 2024Copper ContributorWhere did you get the news? In the past, BitLocker was not available in Home version.

To be clear:
As of August 14, 2024, Microsoft will enable BitLocker device encryption by default for clean installations and new PCs with Windows 11 version 24H2. However, upgrading to 24H2 won't automatically activate device encryption. BitLocker is only available on Windows 11 Pro, Enterprise, and Education editions, not Home.
