Start with Task Manager while the lag is happening. Sort by CPU, Memory and Disk, and note the process that jumps to the top. Then open Startup apps and disable anything you do not need at sign-in. After that, check Settings > System > Storage and make sure the system drive has comfortable free space. If Disk is stuck high, look at Windows Update, indexing, OneDrive sync and antivirus activity before changing random settings. The fastest fix depends on which resource is saturated; once you know whether it is CPU, RAM, disk or a background sync, the next step becomes much clearer.
