Windows 11 and Surfacepro7 keyboard

I was running windows 10 on my surface7 and everything was fine. When I went to tablet mode and removed my keyboard the windows keyboard would pop up. Now no pop up keyboard? What happened? I have installed a 3rd party keyboard app as a work around.
