Win11 Search Highlights icon in the taskbar search box shows static image instead of interactive one
The Search Highlights feature displays a static icon or image, and the icon does not change even if the Search Highlights feature is enabled in Settings.
Hovering over the icon does not trigger any additional content. The feature is supposed to display daily updates, but the same image may remain for several days in a row; this may be due to network issues.

You have Search highlights enabled, but the taskbar illustration stays static and hovering does nothing. On Windows 11, highlights appear in Search home, opened with Windows+S or by selecting Search. The “open on hover” control is documented for the Windows 10 taskbar search box, so missing hover on Windows 11 is not a fault. First, open Search home and confirm whether today's highlighted content appears there. Then go to Settings > Privacy & security > Search permissions > More settings, switch Show search highlights off, restart, and enable it again. Install all recommended Windows updates and restart. If the device is managed, ask the administrator to confirm the Allow search highlights policy is enabled or not configured, because policy can suppress dynamic content. If Search home itself remains stale after these checks, record the Windows build and submit the behavior through Feedback Hub; Windows provides no supported manual refresh command.
