why won't my laptop factory reset on windows 11?
Hi everyone,
I'm trying to factory reset my laptop running with Windows 11 but it won't complete. It either gets stuck, shows an error, or rolls back to the way it was before. Not a tech guy, so I'm hoping someone can help me figure out what's wrong.
Why won't my laptop factory reset in Windows 11 and how to fix it? I'd appreciate a step-by-step approach since I don't want to accidentally make things worse.

A factory reset may fail or roll back when Windows has corrupted system files that interfere with the recovery process. Chris Titus Tech WinUtil includes a system repair option for checking and repairing this type of corruption. This is worth trying when dealing with the question why won't my laptop factory reset in windows 11, especially if the reset repeatedly stops with an error or returns to the previous installation.
The System Corruption Scan is available in the Fixes section and runs Windows repair checks for damaged system files. When trying to determine why won't my laptop factory reset in windows 11, repairing system corruption before starting another reset can help rule out one common cause. Back up important personal files before trying the reset again.
Repairing System Corruption
Op. 1: Right-click Start and select Terminal (Admin).
Op. 2: Run the official command to launch the utility:

Op. 3: Open the Config tab and locate the Fixes section.
Op. 4: Run System Corruption Scan and allow the repair process to finish without closing the window.
Op. 5: Restart the computer after the scan is complete, then try Reset this PC again. If the reset still fails, Windows recovery or installation media may be required instead.
Disadvantages:
- Administrator access required.
- Repairs may take time.
- Not a fix for every reset error.
