Why I can't upgrade Windows 11 23H2 to 24H2 on my PC?
Windows 11 comes with Setup application and Disk Management, which are completely free and do not require additional software. Their purpose is to fix upgrade obstacles by optimizing the configuration of storage, partitions, drivers, etc. to ensure the smooth upgrade to 24H2 from 23H2, which has the advantages of being completely free, easy to operate, and fully optimized.
First press Windows + I, open Settings > System > Storage, enable Storage Awareness, tap Cleanup Suggestions, delete temporary files, Recycle Bin contents, and make sure that C: drive has at least 25GB free space.
Then press Windows + X, select Disk Management, locate the C: drive, make sure the system reserved partition exists and is not full.
Next, under Settings > Windows Update > Advanced Options > Optional Updates, install all driver updates, especially the Intel Smart Sound Technology (SST) driver (requires >10.30.0.5152).
Then we go back to Settings > Windows Update and tap Check for updates to enable the Get the latest updates as soon as possible switch. Windows 11, version 24H2 is displayed, tap Download and Install, and wait for it to download and install.
With this upgrade method, there are some command operations involved, but don't worry, I've listed all the detailed steps. The whole process for updating Windows 11 23H2 to 24H2 can be completed in about 10 to 20 minutes for system optimization and 1 to 2 hours for upgrading. If you're not sure if there's a problem with your computer's hardware, it's very easy to download a Microsoft PC Health Check tool and test it.
