Where / How to find "Ask a question"
CAN ANYONE TELL ME how to reliably and repeatably find the Link to "Ask a question" or "Start a Discussion"!
Yes, I am Starting a Discussion now ONLY because I accidentally stumbled upon a Start a discussion link.
I am often wondering around in the various Community Hubs, Discussions, Screens, etc. trying to find that link - and don't laugh because I am serious, but sometimes for 30 minutes or more and sometimes finally giving up.
I love the Community and the support here, but WHY is it so hard to "Ask a Question"
I will post the question somewhere else when I finish here - if I can once again find the link to ask a question.
And sorry to be such a pain over this and although a long-term Community participant, but this has been a lingering problem for me, going back years and years.

Please post the link you found so others can use it. I have an issue that I need to address.

AJ...-
I would be glad to - except the Ask a Question button, link, whatever is still elusive to me - and I am still upset about the whole thing - it is so ridiculous (and to repeat, I have been complaining about it for years).
WHOOPS - SORRY - BURIED in Hornblower March 02 response (with a link to the real answer) is a solution that does work when you click on the correct link. Now the only problem is how to find that link or how to save that link to use without having to go back to this thread to find it.

See the thread on this problem that I raised in the Community Lounge.

we hear you that its not always easy to figure out how or where to post and so we will shortly be introducing a Start a discussion button on the homepage and every category page which will help you choose where to post.

It is in my comment of Mar 02, 2026 on this thread.

I have started a thread in the Community Lounge on why there are two different ways to get to a "Community Discussion" page, but only one of them has "Start a discussion"

Why not just post the link here?

My thread in the Community Lounge is about the general case. There are many forums that have the same problem.

You have to come in via the Discussions Link. For this forum it is:

UGH, it's on a different page, I had to get Google AI overview to find for me.🙄

I don't know how to ask a question either, this is absolutely ridiculous. I am using chrome on a new android phone. There is no ask question button. I can only reply to posts.
I came here to ask how to install Microsoft 365 on my phone, which is a paid subscription. I tried via playstore, it's now called copilot. When I install that, it's just some AI Q&A garbage. Where are my excel, word, PowerPoint, etc apps? Ridiculous

Once again, I want to ask a question about File Explorer - AND ONCE AGAIN,
THERE IS NO ASK A QUESTION OR START A DISCUSSION TO BE FOUND, ANYWHERE.
Why, Why Microsoft have you made it impossible to find.
Am I being singled out because of my email address - I am beginning to think that is the only reason.

Nerfft-
I sort-of apologize - I went back and on one of my many community pages and reading the page again, I did find a "RSVP or Ask your Question now" button.
BUT when I click on it, I get the standard page with the Search Box, to search the community for an answer - the same merry-go-round I always end up in.
So, the problem in my mind is still not solved, at all.
But thanks for the attempt.

Nerfft-
Thanks for the response - but that is why I am complaining - IT IS NEVER THERE.
I hate to be a pain about this, but I have LITERALLY SPENT HOURS and hours and hours trying to find that "easy to spot" colorfully button - it is not easily found. I only finally stumble upon it after long search periods, of seeing the same pages over and over and over.
I am not sure what the problem is - and hate to keep after this, but I have been having and have been posting this same complaint at various times, actually for several years now - it is not a new problem for me. But feel there must be something I am missing, somewhere - just looking for the little missing piece.

On the main forum page, usually on the top or in the sidebar, you’ll see a button labeled "Ask a question" or "Start a discussion". Sometimes it’s a large, colorful button, making it easier to spot.
