What is the best voice recorder for Windows 11?
Here's a step-by-step guide on using the Xbox Game Bar as a voice recorder for Windows 11. It's a built-in tool, so no downloads or third-party software are needed.
Step 1: Open Xbox Game Bar
Press Windows + G on your keyboard to open the Game Bar overlay.
Step 2: Adjust Audio Settings
In the Game Bar, look for the Audio widget. Here's how to make sure it captures what you want:
- Click the Settings (gear) icon in the Game Bar, go to the "Capturing" tab, and under "Audio to record," select "All". This allows it to capture both system sounds and your microphone.
- To quickly toggle your microphone on or off, you can press Windows + Alt + M during a recording session.
Step 3: Start Recording
Once your audio source is set, start recording. You can:
- Click the Record button (the circle icon) in the Capture widget, or
- Press Windows + Alt + R to instantly start and stop recording.
Step 4: Stop and Find Your Recording
When you are finished, press Windows + Alt + R again or click the Stop button. Your recording will be saved as an MP4 file. You can find it by going to Videos > Captures in File Explorer.
Of course, it also has some shortcomings. Its functions are relatively simple, lacking advanced features such as noise reduction and editing. However, if it's only needed temporarily and you use it as a quick voice recorder for Windows 11, it will definitely be sufficient. It's completely free and doesn't require any extra effort.
