What is the best free data backup software for Windows 11?
Okay, if you're down for some cloud storage, OneDrive is a best and free data backup software for Windows 11 computer. Windows 11 integrates OneDrive like peanut butter and jelly with the OS. I store a lot of my important files and photos in OneDrive. It’s comforting knowing I can access them anywhere, and it syncs across all my devices. The only downside is that 5GB can fill up quick if you’re a heavy user, but if you pay a little, you can get more storage as part of a Microsoft 365 subscription, which is super handy too!
Recently upgraded an old computer to Windows 11 and discovered after about a week that OneDrive is not a backup as some have described - it moves files off your local machine to the cloud. I initially fought back by manually moving the files back to my PC only to discover in a few days they had been removed again. This motivated me to search for procedures to stop OneDrive from doing this and eventually figured it out (I think). I would be happy to have OneDrive behave like a backup system but at this point don't trust it. I'll find something else to do the backup job.
