What has MS done now to force Bing on us?

Recently something which I haven't as yet been able to identify keeps loading Bing, and worse, one loaded I can't close it. I have to resort to task Manager. That I know is not very helpful description in respect of what causes the problem but others may have have come across the same issue. My wife has on her PC.
I have everything I can think off turned off - Google is my only search engine. Bing is still listed in Program manager but MS doesn't allow it to be deleted.
If and when I can find what causes it to load I'll post but in the meantime the above may ring some bells.
