Unable to use Search in Windows 11

The search function has never been operable for me since getting Windows 11 a year ago.  From the Taskbar, Start, or Explorer, when I try to type in the search box, it basically freezes and then closes the app or window.  I've tried all the possible fixes that I can think of, and many others I've come across in forums and support pages, except an inplace upgrade/repair.  

 

Any suggestions, experience, or solutions will be very appreciated.  Thank you.

    Please run Search and Indexing troubleshooter from Settings app > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters. Let us know what it reports back.

    Also, suggest you to rebuild search index, see if that helps.

      I've already tried those two things several times.  Changed nothing for me.

        I've started having the same problem after this week's cumulative update. Tried everything you've mentioned - still nothing. HELP!
