The best picture enhancer for improving quality on Windows 11?
Hi everyone, I have a lot of older photos and low-quality pictures on my PC that look blurry, pixelated, or just not very sharp. Some are old phone photos, and others are compressed images downloaded...

Microsoft Photos is a good basic picture enhancer software for many Windows 11 users, especially if you want something built in and easy to use.
Where It Works Well
- One-click auto enhance for quick improvements
- Manual sliders for brightness, contrast, highlights, shadows, sharpness, and color correction
- Newer versions include some AI-powered editing/enhancement features depending on your PC/app version
Steps:
- Right-click your image and choose Open with → Microsoft Photos.
- Click the Edit Image button at the top toolbar.
- Select the Auto Enhance option to let the app automatically improve the image.
- Fine-tune the picture with sliders such as brightness, contrast, highlights.
- Increase the Clarity/Sharpness slider slightly to improve details.
- Click Save options and choose Save or Save as copy.
Limitations
- It's still a basic picture enhancer tool, not a professional-grade enhancer
- Advanced users may find the controls limited compared with dedicated editors
- Some users report that aggressive filters/adjustments can reduce image quality if overused
Bottom Line
- Great choice if you want: quick enhancement, no extra installs, beginner-friendly workflow
- Less ideal if you need: heavy restoration, advanced retouching, professional color grading, or AI upscaling on older hardware
