System/Power Settings menu causes PC to lag ?

I stumbled across a weird Windows issue when changing power management option. This is quite the odd one I think, but for whatever reason when going into System settings anytime I select Power , it causes the PC to have a weird stutter as well as the mouse cursor will jump across the screen instead of a fluid motion.... All other system settings when you open are smooth as can be... As far as power plan setup in control panel, its currently set to ultimate, I've tried balanced, Game turbo etc.. same result.
Any clue as to what it could be?

Its not a major issue just something I caught when checking my sleep/hibernate settings for the new Nvidia driver shenanigans of GPU temps staying locked after sleep/hibernate occurs.

This is indeed a strange issue.  I noticed it today after a fresh install.  I disabled everything I've installed and it persists.  I even tweaked a few BIOS/UEFI settings but can't find a cause.

    • Asus motherboard (Z790 Hero)
    • Intel 13700K
    • NVIDIA 40090

The only longshot I can think of is that I am using the Intel default settings in the BIOS rather than my old custom OC.  I may try re-enabling my OC only because I don't recall noticing this before.  But that's likely a coincidence.

  • I just want to add to this.  The same thing happens to me.  I change my sleep settings often since I use plex from my main PC to stream movies.  I've got a 9950X3D and a 4090 FE, so it's not a hardware problem.  This is also a pretty fresh install of windows.

Try updating your graphics drivers, then turn off fastboot, and finally turn off those fancy performance modes in the power plan.
