Special character shortcuts working only on Microsoft Word but not in any other applications
During previous iterations of Windows, when I set special character keyboard shortcuts on Word (e.g.,
à, é), these shortcuts would be available on other applications like web browsers. I switched to a new laptop that ran on Windows 11 and set up keyboard shortcuts on Word but these would not work on other applications. Is there a fix for this?

- MelaniensCopper ContributorIf you're looking for a quick way to insert special characters in any application, you can use the built-in Windows Character Map: Press Win + R to open the Run dialog box, then type charmap and hit Enter. From the Character Map, you can select any special character, copy it, and then paste it wherever you need it.

2. Keyboard Layout Differences: Different applications may interpret the keyboard layout differently. The solution is to ensure that the keyboard layout is consistent across applications and adjust the settings if necessary.
3. Clipboard differences: Some applications may not support Word support for specific characters to copy and paste. The solution is to use the application's character mapping or insert symbol feature.
4. Third-party application compatibility: Third-party applications may not support all Word shortcuts. The solution is to look for customization options or define new shortcuts in these applications.
5. Operating system settings: Operating system level keyboard shortcut settings may not apply to all applications. The solution is to check and standardize your operating system's keyboard shortcuts and input method settings.
