Should I install the most recent update?
My dad just warned me of the most recent windows 11 updated and he said not to update to it today as it bricked some laptops. Is this true? What have you heard about it?

No. You should wait sometime as there might be bugs with new release.
Before installing major updates, temporarily postpone the update and wait a few days to observe feedback from other users and subsequent fixes from Microsoft.
