Should I do a clean Windows 10 install first? Windows 11 update assistant crashed
catastrophic-error-0x8000ffff
I just downloaded PC manager (Why is this not standard???) and it tells me that sys. files alone are 19.4Gb
App Data is also huge.
After poking about it seems like there's a lot of old system files dating back to my previous computer's time.
And all this after struggling for literal years with storage on my 110Gb SSD and spending the past week trying to clear enough space to run the update.
Option B, if a clean install doesn't fix the size is to also wipe everything and just install windows on D:

Given the update error (0x8000ffff) and the large amount of old system files, a clean install of Windows 10 (preferably on a freshly formatted partition) is advisable. You can then restore your DVR software from backups or reconfigure as needed afterward.

Simply use Microsoft's official tool to create a Windows 11 installation USB drive, a clean installation is the most stable option.
