Screen Mirroring (wireless casting) on TV stopped working
Hello, for the last month or so wireless casting (Windows key + K) on our Samsung TV stopped working with all our Windows 11 laptops (we have 70). However, it's still working with a Windows 10 laptop that isn't connected to our domain...it's also working with Apple Airplay so the issue is not the TV. (I did a factory reset on the TV just to make sure anyway).
Whenever we try to connect a Windows 11 laptop, we can approve the connection on the TV and it tries to connect for like 10 seconds but ultimately it fails and says that it can't connect (yes it's on the same WIFI network.)
I don't know why it suddenly stopped working, we haven't changed any policy recently. Could it be a Windows update? Does anyone have any idea?

I found out what was causing my problem with wireless casting to my Samsung TV from my Lenovo laptop. It had to do with my Norton app. There is a setting for "Smart Firewall" within the Advanced Security settings. Once turned off I am able to wirelessly cast to my TV. You can turn off the setting for a specific amount of time. You obviously need to turn it back on after you are through casting.

I had microsoft remoted into my laptop (HP) Windows 11 and they could not get the issue resolved either. This was quite disheartening. Anyway, I may be contacting them back, but the last thing they told me was to check with HP so I am going to do that. I am also going to bring up my Lenovo laptop and try that as well.

More clarity on my issue with casting on 2/21/2025. I did do the February 2025 patch tuesday updates. I can start the process of casting to a Roku device. The roku device shows up. It acts like it is going to mirror my screen just fine, but it never shows anything from my screen and the screen turns black. Thus it does not work any more. It was working fine two to three weeks ago.

Same problem. I am sure it started with a Win 11 update.

I have a strange addition. Settings >> Cast refuses to find any device, however - Chrome browser - with YouTube connects to both my Cast devices (Smart TV and BT/EE STB)

Add me to the list of frustrated. Used casting extensively until a couple of months ago on my Windows 11 machine. Stopped working after an update just nt sure which one. Wife's Windows 10 laptop connects immediately. Connecting to WebOS LG TV for years but this is my first Win 11 machine.- pk20240612Copper Contributor
