Remove "Start backup" from File Explorer
rcharbon had posted (I got an email but can't find the post) that a Reddit thread said you could "Go to Explorer Settings (Folder Options)>View tab>Uncheck Show sync provider notifications and that big button in the address bar will go away."
While follow-ups to that reddit indicated it didn't work for them, it did work for me, but only after a restart. Applying the change makes the window visibly redraw, but still with the danged button, which made me originally think it failed until rcharbon's post got me to try again.
I've tried it for several ways (restart, no restart, keeping it, ...) and nothing makes the button dissapear.
By the moment, the only way to kick that annoying button off is to wipe out One Drive from the machine.

Thanks for reminding us of this 'fix'. It works fine for me too.
Just to add, I've just applied the monthly 'Cumulative Update' for Windows 11 and it did not reset the registry hack so the 'Backup now' button is still being suppressed. - FisicolocoJan 08, 2024Copper Contributor¡¡¡YES!!!
I have made several restarts and it keep "start backup" out.
¡Thank you very much!

The other day I had to restart my computer, which only allowed it with an update. When I restarted, it took off the backup button. But then the next time I restarted again, it came back.
