Remove "Start backup" from File Explorer
- davidhbrownNov 02, 2023Copper Contributor
rcharbon had posted (I got an email but can't find the post) that a Reddit thread said you could "Go to Explorer Settings (Folder Options)>View tab>Uncheck Show sync provider notifications and that big button in the address bar will go away."
While follow-ups to that reddit indicated it didn't work for them, it did work for me, but only after a restart. Applying the change makes the window visibly redraw, but still with the danged button, which made me originally think it failed until rcharbon's post got me to try again.
- FisicolocoJan 08, 2024Copper ContributorHi. The link to Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows11/comments/16sxzcg/new_start_backup_button_on_new_file_explorer/?rdt=34107
I've tried it for several ways (restart, no restart, keeping it, ...) and nothing makes the button dissapear.
By the moment, the only way to kick that annoying button off is to wipe out One Drive from the machine.- fxzxmicJan 08, 2024Copper Contributor

this is the only thing that worked from all the answers in all forums that all either suggested removing onedrive completely or disabling it from startup - rcharbonNov 02, 2023Copper Contributor
davidhbrown I'd deleted the post, since it didn't work for me when I tried it. I'll try again!
- rcharbonNov 02, 2023Copper ContributorIt worked for me after restarting File Explorer. I didn't have to restart the computer.
