Pushing specific Key produces multiple Keystrokes
The 1, Q, and Tab keys intermittently produce nothing or several presses, while Shift combinations fail too. That can come from repeated-key filtering, a driver, or the laptop keyboard matrix, so start with comparison testing. When the fault appears, try the Windows On-Screen Keyboard and an external USB keyboard. If both work, the built-in keyboard, ribbon cable, or contamination is the likely boundary. Also test the keys in UEFI/BIOS; repetition there confirms Windows is not the cause. In Windows, turn off Sticky Keys and Filter Keys temporarily, remove the keyboard device in Device Manager, restart, and install current ASUS BIOS, chipset, and keyboard updates for the exact K571GT/X571GT model. Avoid registry repeat-rate hacks before this isolation. If only the built-in keyboard still misbehaves, back up the device and arrange hardware inspection, especially after liquid exposure or chassis flex.
Hey Jamony,
- I went into Device Manager, uninstalled the keyboard driver, did a restart, and a full shutdown, that didn't solve it.
- I disabled sticky and filter keys, still didn't work.
- I went into BIOS and looking for a place to type, and yup...the 1, Q, and Tab aren't working in there either, so that def rules out a software or a windows driver issue.
So at this point, I assume it's definitely a hardware issue.
I went on Asus website for drivers, and they don't appear to have a driver solely for the keyboard.
