When you run chkdsk /f /r on the system drive (C:), Windows typically schedules the check for the next restart. During startup, it should display a screen showing progress of the disk check, often with "Scanning and repairing drive (C:)."

Yes, that's what it's supposed to be doing. It did that with Windows 10 but with Windows 11, but it didn't. It went to my log-in screen soon after the "Scanning and repairing drive (C:)" appeared.
