prevent Windows 11 desktop auto sort

Simple problem.

If I have folders top left going down in desktop, and I then paste a new folder which alphabetically goes before the top left folder, it will automatically take this spot and move the rest down. How to prevent it? I would rather it going at the last position to not mess my ordering.

    1. Right-click on the Desktop and choose View.
    2. Uncheck the option labeled Auto arrange icons.
      • Auto arrange icons is the setting that causes the icons to automatically adjust their position on the desktop based on alphabetical or other sorting criteria. When this option is unchecked, icons will stay in their manually arranged position, even if you paste or create new items.
    3. Optionally, if you'd like to prevent icons from moving entirely when resizing or adjusting, you can also uncheck Align icons to grid. This will allow more flexibility with icon placement.

    Additional Notes:

    • Auto arrange icons is the primary culprit behind your issue. When it’s enabled, Windows forces icons to follow a specific layout order. Disabling it allows you to freely move and place icons wherever you want, without automatic adjustments based on alphabetical sorting or other criteria.

Once this setting is disabled, the new folder should remain in the spot you place it rather than moving to the top-left position based on its name.

Unfortunately, Auto-Arrange is off, only Align To Grid is on
