Possible to install windows 11 without microsoft account?
Hello tech community members,
I'm new to Windows and want to install Windows 11 on a PC given by my dad, but I don't have a Microsoft account and I'm not planning to create one. I've heard that it's possible to bypass the Microsoft account requirement during the installation process, but I'm not sure how to do it.
Could anyone provide a step-by-step guide or any tips on how to install Windows 11 without Microsoft account? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
[Latest update] Please don't send private message any more as I don't have time replying one by one. If you had the same question, please follow this step-by-step-guide with screenshots to get it done. I already successfully installed Windows 11 on my PC without Microsoft account. You can also contact the support to send you the custom ISO to skip the Microsoft account requirement.

How to Bypass the “Let’s connect you to a network” screen in Windows 11 (23H2/24H2)
If you want to set up Windows 11 with a local account and the installer keeps forcing you to connect to the Internet, do this:
- On the “Let’s connect you to a network” screen, press Shift + F10 to open Command Prompt.
- Type:OOBE\BYPASSNROand press Enter.
- The PC will restart automatically.
- When the setup restarts, you’ll now see an option “I don’t have Internet”.
- Select it → continue with limited setup → create your local account.
That’s it — you can complete installation fully offline without a Microsoft account.

Not working at least for me. It still asks for Microsoft account after reboot. I checked the feedback of online forum, and this trick was fixed by Microsoft.

This NEVER works! I have tried it on multiple computers, and every time it doesn't recognise the command. I now setup Windows using an ISO USB created with Rufus that gives the option of creating a local account.

I also just used it and it didn't work while I had the ethernet cable plugged in. The fix was to just unplug the ethernet, and even though my pc has wireless, I had an option to click I don't have internet.

Hello, for anyone wondering, for you to create a local account you can't connect to wifi/ethernet during the setup. If you already got to the login part by using ethernet just disconnect the cable and do the setup again, if you did so by using wifi, the setup will unfortunatelly remember the network, but you can delete it using cmd. so press shift+F10 and type netsh wlan delete profile *, after that you just restart the setup.

Hello. Press shift+f10, type net user /add your_name your_password, net localgroup /add administrators your_name, then type regedit-->HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE-->software-->policies-->microsoft-->windows and create a new key called OOBE. In this key create a DWORD called "DisablePrivacyExpirience", and kill using task manager process called "Winlogon", now log into your user and delete defaultuser0 using command "net user /delete defaultuser0". And that's all! Enjoy!

It is really a painful experience to install Windows 11 with Microsoft account. It keeps downloading system update and other staff you are not aware of. It could take hours if the internet connection is slow. This is the reason why people are looking for a way to install Windows 11 without Microsoft account. Microsoft should give the two choices and let the user decide which account type to go with.
Honestly, installing Windows 10 with a local account is much faster than using a Microsoft account!

Microsoft has blocks the trick to bypass Microsoft account requirement in latest dev build. This means it will become much more harder to install Windows 11 without Microsoft account. Please kindly share the tip here if you know the way that still works.

Forcing you to have a Microsoft account in Windows 11 results in a neat self-denial of service attack. I upgraded to Windows 11 a couple of days ago (only because of the end of support for Windows 10, which I was very happy with). So I started up my PC this morning, only to be confronted with a screen that said I had to finish setting up my Microsoft account. There was no way to escape this screen. It then insisted that I log in to my Microsoft account. It told me it had sent a code to my email. However, since I could not get to my email because I could not get past this screen during log in, I was stuck in a denial of service attack courtesy of Microsoft. Well done Microsoft. In general I have been struggling now that I am on Windows 11, trying to figure out what no longer works and figure out how to fix it. I now have to almost always choose "See All" when I want to start up an application. The setting application is now a largely useless mess. And I am just getting started. Who knows what other things I have lost.

Before clicking "Setup for personal use", click Shift + F10 and command window will appear. Type "ipconfig /release" then close command window and click "Setup for personal use" then it will move to next screen which asks you for an username for local account. Then again click Shift + F10 and type "ipconfig /renew" then close command window and continue to steps ahead.
