Came across this issue today with an antsy user who'd already started his laptop setup before allowing me to set it up and join the domain. Luckily, he got stumped when it came to the user account option. I started over, and did not get the option to connect or not to the internet, as he'd already connected. Turns out, the fix was super easy.When selecting account type, choose work or school. On the next screen, there's an option for sign in another way, which lets you choose to sign in with a domain. This brings you directly to create a local user account. You don't actually need to have a domain to get this to work.

Martinezipo and anyone who comes across this post. Simply disconnect your network cable or disable your wifi adapter if you connected to a wifi network. Hold Shift + F10 for the command prompt to appear now type netsh interface show interface After this pay attention to the interface name for your wireless adapter: On mine the wifi interface name is: Wi-Fi.Replace Wi-Fi with your interface name. netsh interface set interface Wi-Fi disable Press enter and now click Sign-In and it will let you create an account versus login in with email. Don’t forget to enable your interface once in Windows.

Forcing you to have a Microsoft account in Windows 11 results in a neat self-denial of service attack. I upgraded to Windows 11 a couple of days ago (only because of the end of support for Windows 10, which I was very happy with). So I started up my PC this morning, only to be confronted with a screen that said I had to finish setting up my Microsoft account. There was no way to escape this screen. It then insisted that I log in to my Microsoft account. It told me it had sent a code to my email. However, since I could not get to my email because I could not get past this screen during log in, I was stuck in a denial of service attack courtesy of Microsoft. Well done Microsoft. In general I have been struggling now that I am on Windows 11, trying to figure out what no longer works and figure out how to fix it. I now have to almost always choose "See All" when I want to start up an application. The setting application is now a largely useless mess. And I am just getting started. Installing Windows 11 without Microsoft account, you won't be able to receive updates through Windows Update. You'll need to manually download and install updates from the Microsoft website or use third-party update tools. You can do this by using an offline activation method or purchasing a product key.

  Obaileyy this is what I will assume is unintentional misinformation. Setting up Windows 11 without a Microsoft account will not preclude you from getting updates.

Martinezipo I was fortunate enough during my Windows 11 installation last September. When the setup process reached the point where it required a Microsoft account, I simply unplugged my Ethernet cable. This action caused the setup to revert to the Local Account creation screen. So you can now install Windows 11 without a Microsoft account.

To ensure success, I also made sure there were no Wi-Fi connections available to the PC beforehand. Interestingly, I used the same method when setting up Windows 10 and was both surprised and relieved to find that this trick still worked.

  As others have pointed out, this technique doesn't work on Windows 11 Pro. When I turned off my Wifi hotspot at this point, I got an "Oops!' screen which took me back to the Internet Connection screeen.

MartinezipoI had done this for two times. It takes too much time when connecting a Microsoft during installation.This is a simple trick to install Windows 11 without microsoft account for old Windows 11 versions.

During Windows 11 installation, select "I don’t have internet" at the bottom left corner of the screen when prompted to connect to a network, . This option may appear as "Skip for now" in some versions.

A new screen will appear, asking you to continue with limited setup. Click "Continue with limited setup".

You will then be prompted to create a local user account. Enter your desired username and password for the local account. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the setup.
