PL2303 issues (Prolific USB to Serial Drivers) Win 11
- Nov 16, 2021
I tried the older driver available here:
http://www.prolific.com.tw/US/ShowProduct.aspx?p_id=223&pcid=126
And this seemed to work for Windows 11. Weird that an old driver works better than the latest one.I have the PL-2303 TA chipset.

The latest version (v4.0.1) now also worked for me, so no need to get an old version.

If you previously installed an older version, remove it first in the Windows Installed Apps. (It will have a name that starts "PL").
- Igor_IvoilovApr 19, 2023Copper ContributorThe old driver is not available anymore. Prolific is fighting with counterfeit which identifies itself as Prolific product PL2303TA, so preserve the old drivers which just works

This worked for me. After I installed the driver, I had to specifically choose the driver from 2015 for it to work. Thanks for the tip!ejohanson
- Abhishek_PatelJan 24, 2022Copper ContributorThank you for this, now the issue I have is that Microsoft constantly updates the driver weather I like it or not and I have to constantly uninstall and reinstall it every time. Do you happen to have a work around for that by chance? I tried to turn off updates for 5 weeks but after that I am back to the same issue again.
- Kevin_BasingerJan 24, 2022Copper ContributorI just reload the driver everytime I want to use the port. No idea how to get support from Microsoft.
- juventinosavJan 24, 2022Copper ContributorSorry I don’t have a workaround.

Thanks for the info, this solved a problem with a Windows 11 installation and a jewelry engraver.

There seems to be a new driver (v4.0) as of 12/30/21. Has anyone given it a go yet? I'm trying to get a handheld radio (AnyTone 878uv v1) connected to my Alienware laptop. For now I'll stick with the older driver. Thanks all for figuring this out!
EDIT: It looks like the older version no longer works with Win 11 (Version 21H2 OS Build 22000.493). I'll give the latest driver a go.
