New Windows 11 PC- Migrating Files

I just purchased a new Win11 PC and haven’t yet taken it out of the box as I prepare to migrate files from my old Win10 machine. I understood that MS used to offer a way to do that but they no longer do. Is that correct? I do not want anything to do with OneDrive so I hope whatever it is won’t involve that. Also in reading search results about doing this I get conflicting answers on whether you can use various 3rd party utilities to migrate installed software along with your files - some say you cannot, while others say no problem. Any advice appreciated.

Windows Migration tool is your best bet. If you don't want to use that then you can copy files to an external drive and then transfer them to your new computer.

Copy your important files from the old PC onto the external drive, then connect it to the new PC and copy over. If both PCs are on the same network, you can set up shared folders or use Windows' built-in Nearby Sharing or File Sharing features to transfer files directly.

Quickly transfer files to a new PC with the Windows Migration Tool or OneDrive, both depending on your choice!
