Moving Files or Programs

I have 2 internal drives, on is a SSD and the other is a HDD. Is it possible to move a program or file from one drive to the other without having to mess with the registry and if so how?

  • Avoid manually copying program folders (like Program Files) unless you know what you're doing, as it can break the program or leave registry references pointing to the old location.

Most programs must be installed properly to work correctly. Simply copying their folders often won’t work because programs store data in system registries, system files, and dependencies.

Just copy and paste or drag and drop from one drive to the other.

To do this safely, right-click the file/folder, select Copy, then go to the destination drive, right-click, and select Paste.
