Mobile Connected by USB - Message - Device USB requires further installation.

This is a bit of a pain.  My mobile won't connect via USB and MS Phone Link doesn't seem to transfer files.

The Device Manager Portable devices had the message - 

"Device USB\VID_2717&PID_FF48&MI_00\5&1cfe662a&0&0000 requires further installation."

In Device Manager I've deleted all the mobile phone references in Portable Devices, USB Controllers and USB Devices, restarted PC and reconnected phone.

The phone now appears in Explorer, without any error message in device manager, but I can't view the internal drive and the SD card folders are visible but empty.
