Media driver missing error during windows 11 installation
This media driver missing for Windows 11 installation error is very common with newer hardware, especially on PCs without pre-installed OS. Your PC has newer storage hardware (NVMe SSD, RAID, or Intel RST/VMD) that Windows Setup doesn't recognize. You need to load the storage driver during installation.
To fix the Media driver missing for Windows 11 installation error If you only have one USB drive:
1. Boot from Windows USB
2. At first screen, press Shift + F10 to open Command Prompt
3. Type: diskpart → list disk → Note your USB drive number
4. Type: select disk X (X = your USB number)
5. Type: list partition → select partition 1 → assign letter=Z
6. Download driver on another PC, copy to phone, connect phone to problematic PC
7. Copy driver from phone to USB (Z: drive) via Command Prompt
8. Load driver as before
This error is frustrating but 100% solvable for free. Your hardware is fine - Windows Setup just doesn't include the specific storage driver your motherboard needs. The driver is freely available from Intel/AMD/your motherboard manufacturer.
